VONA

THE DOCUMENTARY

Docuseries 4x45 min, Festival Feature 90min | In Production | English, Ukrainian

“VONA”, meaning “She”, in Ukrainian refers to our precious Mother Earth, the natural environment upon which all of humanity depends. “Ecocide” is its deliberate destruction. Our environment exists with no borders and no nationality, yet it is o en sidelined as collateral damage during times of war - the silent victim. Ukraine has stepped forward as the first country in history to investigate the mass destruction of the environment as a “war crime”. The goal is to present their case to the International Criminal Court at the Hague and receive a positive ruling for reparations, setting a precedent for others who seek justice against those who commit similar environmental crimes. “VONA: Inside Ecocide” chronicles these efforts directly from the environmental frontline. With our exclusive access, we follow a select group of international investigators, activists, and local civilians as they tirelessly work to collect evidence, record eyewitness accounts, and calculate the impact on the ecosystem. As this real-time story unfolds, our cameras will be there to follow the dramatic highs and lows of what it takes to accomplish this historic undertaking.
